Probably the only book you'll need if you want to get into podcasting。 Certainly will help give you the confidence to try to start one, at least and covers what I assume are all the important things you would need to know in order to be successful at it。 Probably the only book you'll need if you want to get into podcasting。 Certainly will help give you the confidence to try to start one, at least and covers what I assume are all the important things you would need to know in order to be successful at it。 。。。more
Sam,
I have now actually READ THIS BOOK and I’m still not convinced that it isn’t just a goof。 Still, 5 stars for McElroy content。 I will probably use the audiobook to fall asleep to or come down from a public panic attack or something in the future because it’s genuinely just the brothers telling you how to podcast???? Something I have no interest in?????
Nathaniel Darkish,
Though I wish it got a little more into the nitty-gritty details in some sections, the book is chock-full of good information for newbie podcasters and delivers some genuine laughs along the way。
Tony Jenkins,
I loved this! This book is written with a very personal tone so fans of the various McElroy podcasts will appreciate the familial voice and feel right at home。 The content of this book is practical and and accessible for a wide audience though, so even without prior listening experience readers won’t feel Luke they are missing out or lacking context。 Podcasting can be tricky to learn about because available resources tend to be either extremely general or extremely granular and specific。 This bo I loved this! This is the first how-to book that I've personally read that had the incredibly helpful advice of, "Don't wait until you're perfect to make something - start making something, and keep improving one little thing at a time。" For as many inspirational-type books that I've read, I've never seen that concept so concisely stated and it's actually, genuinely, realistically encouraging。 This is the first how-to book that I've personally read that had the incredibly helpful advice of, "Don't wait until you're perfect to make something - start making something, and keep improving one little thing at a time。" For as many inspirational-type books that I've read, I've never seen that concept so concisely stated and it's actually, genuinely, realistically encouraging。 。。。more

If you want to know how to create a podcast and the tools you will need to do it, this seems to be the book for you。 Easy to read and understand, even when they are talking about technical things like equipment and editing, etc。Many helpful suggestions that they have learned in their wide variety of podcasting experiences。
Alison,
A lot of fun from top podcasteristas。 They give good, clear, well-organized advice on everything from creating a podcast to hosting to equipment to software。 Excellent work。

I enjoyed this! I'm an extant McElroy fan and someone who arguably sort of already knows how to do a podcast, but reading this still gave me a few tips and reassured me that I'm doing okay。 It is written in an amusing way but it is first and foremost informative。 I'd recommend it to someone looking to start a podcast (or improve their podcasting skills)。 Someone with no interest in podcasting but just a fan of listening to McElroy shows might not enjoy this--it is not a memoir or anything, it is I enjoyed this! A practical, funny guide on making a podcast。 As someone who really enjoys the other McElroy content and wants to maybe make a podcast, this was absolutely perfect。 I think this guide is something I can recommend to anyone looking to start a podcast as the technical and practical parts are thoughtful and well written, although knowing the McElroy brand before hand will make the humor land significantly more often。 A short, easy read that inspires as much as it instructs。 A few out of date things A practical, funny guide on making a podcast。 As someone who really enjoys the other McElroy content and wants to maybe make a podcast, this was absolutely perfect。 I think this guide is something I can recommend to anyone looking to start a podcast as the technical and practical parts are thoughtful and well written, although knowing the McElroy brand before hand will make the humor land significantly more often。 A short, easy read that inspires as much as it instructs。 A few out of date things simply due to the nature of how fast the internet works。 。。。more

I just started a podcast and things discussed in this book are both insightful and practical。 The McElroy's have a unique way of communicating with their listeners that was apparent in every chapter。 Thoroughly enjoyed reading and will continue to reference as I find ways to improve my own podcast。。。。which is about karaoke and called 'The Greatest Song Ever Sung (Poorly)'。 In case you were curious。 And wanted to listen。 And subscribe。 Thank you? Really interesting to read/listen to after getting more into rhetoric/composition studies - this could be a cool book, even, to have students read in a comp class to discuss genre, audience, etc。

While I don't have much of an interest in podcasting, I picked this up because I love McElroy content and it did not disappoint。 It is straightforward and entertaining, both important qualities of a how-to-guide。 It's best quality, though, is it makes podcasting seem approachable。 Not necessarily easy, but attainable with some though and effort, and maybe something fun to try。 While I don't have much of an interest in podcasting, I picked this up because I love McElroy content and it did not disappoint。 It is straightforward and entertaining, both important qualities of a how-to-guide。 It's best quality, though, is it makes podcasting seem approachable。 Not necessarily easy, but attainable with some though and effort, and maybe something fun to try。 。。。more

It doesn't seem fair to "rate" this book the way I normally would because I read it for entirely different reasons。 I picked this up because I wanted to learn about making a podcast (and because I'm a big, big McElroy fangirl)。 It answered all of the questions I had going in and taught me multiple things that I hadn't even thought to wonder about yet。 I feel like I could successfully make a decent podcast after reading this book, and that's really all I could ask for。Also, these brothers are the It doesn't seem fair to "rate" this book the way I normally would because I read it for entirely different reasons。 I picked this up because I wanted to learn about making a podcast (and because I'm a big, big McElroy fangirl)。 It answered all of the questions I had going in and taught me multiple things that I hadn't even thought to wonder about yet。 I feel like I could successfully make a decent podcast after reading this book, and that's really all I could ask for。Also, these brothers are the best。 If you haven't checked out any of their shows, I'd particularly recommend The Adventure Zone。 That's what started me down my McElroy rabbit hole and I'm not sorry about it。 。。。more

I thought this was going to be about their podcasts。 It was a "how to" start your own podcast and mostly very obvious advice。 Plus the whole family gave advice and they often gave not conflicting but different advice。 They might do better being a consulting company。 I thought this was going to be about their podcasts。 It was a "how to" start your own podcast and mostly very obvious advice。 Plus the whole family gave advice and they often gave not conflicting but different advice。 They might do better being a consulting company。 。。。more

A fun, fast read, full of the boys' light-hearted, dry humor, and featuring a lot of pretty in-depth info about starting your own podcast that makes it seem both accessible but also daunting。 If I ever actually start a podcast, I am sure I will be coming back to this book as a reference。 A fun, fast read, full of the boys' light-hearted, dry humor, and featuring a lot of pretty in-depth info about starting your own podcast that makes it seem both accessible but also daunting。 If I ever actually start a podcast, I am sure I will be coming back to this book as a reference。 。。。more

While I still think So You Want to Start a Podcast is a good entry point if you know nothing about podcasts, this book expands on everything and does so in a more personable, humorous way。 A lot of their examples may also be better just because most of their podcasts seem to be done by them, and not with the backing of a organization (like many of author's podcasts in So You Want to Start a Podcast)。 While I didn't learn anything new, I think it will be very helpful to people just starting out。 While I still think So You Want to Start a Podcast is a good entry point if you know nothing about podcasts, this book expands on everything and does so in a more personable, humorous way。 A lot of their examples may also be better just because most of their podcasts seem to be done by them, and not with the backing of a organization (like many of author's podcasts in So You Want to Start a Podcast)。 While I didn't learn anything new, I think it will be very helpful to people just starting out。 。。。more

I'm about a year into podcasting and this book has stripped away all of my dreams of instant success lol。 Probably the only thing I've done right is to get started!
